YouTube – Visualizing Words with Subtitles
Adding subtitles to music videos on YouTube not only allows you to visualize the words as you listen to the song but also reinforces the learning process. Here’s how to do it:
Search for the music video of your choice on YouTube.
Click on the “Settings” icon (gear icon) located at the bottom right of the video player.
From the menu, select “Subtitles/CC” and choose the language you prefer, in this case, English.
Now, as the music video plays, the English subtitles will appear on screen, allowing you to read along with the lyrics.
Streaming Lyrics on Apple Music and Spotify
Both Apple Music and Spotify have features that allow you to view lyrics while listening to songs. Here’s how to access this feature on each platform:
Apple Music:
Play a song on Apple Music.
Scroll down on the "Now Playing" screen to view the lyrics.
The lyrics will scroll automatically as the song plays, or you can scroll manually to read ahead.
Spotify:
Play a song on Spotify.
Tap on the "Now Playing" bar at the bottom.
If lyrics are available, they’ll appear right below the song's title and artist.
Music is not only an entertaining way to learn English, but it's also highly effective. The rhythm, melody, and lyrics of a song make new words and phrases stick in your mind. By utilizing tools like LingoClip, adding subtitles on YouTube, and viewing lyrics on streaming platforms, you can turn your love for music into a language learning journey. So tune into your favorite songs, and let the learning begin!
